Zuzu'a Chocolates & Fudge Brand Identity Package
For my final project of my college career, I chose to use it as an opportunity to rebrand the business that I planned on buying, alongside my dad and my grandma. Things don’t always turn out as we plan and you get to be grateful for your experiences. We are currently not buying the business anymore, but I still have these designs! Please enjoy these chocolate box designs as well as a brochure and business card.
Mood board
My biggest inspiration for branding this business was the movie that I’m named after It’s a Wonderful Life. I decided that I wanted the entire business to be vintage themed and branded upon the ideals that the movie sets, doing good things for your community, helping the people around you, and loving your family and friends. Since we were planning on buying a business and not starting from scratch, the theme and ideals meshed well with what was already set in place by the previous business.
Color Scheme
These color swatches were the original idea for the color theme. It was hard to integrate a vintage aesthetic with a modern color scheme. Ultimately I didn’t pick any of these options. I originally wanted to do a red and green color scheme because it pairs well with the holidays that chocolate is bought the most. I ended up with a pink color and I picked it based upon what fit the best with my designs.
Logo Design
Designing the logo was probably the biggest and most intimidating task. I knew that the logo had to be great and it had to communicate what my company will do, produce old-fashioned, premium quality chocolates. After a lot of visual research, finding other chocolate company logos that I liked and didn’t like, I ended up creating the final logo design with my dad. The final logo design incorperates our 5th element perfectly, line work.
Box Design
When designing these boxes, I went through so many iterations of designs. It was difficult because I didn’t have the logo figured out yet so I mainly worked in black and white for the box designs. I wanted the box designs to feel vintage and elegant. Then I had the bright idea of creating a 5th element that emulates a chocolate drizzle since we weren’t planning on using boxes with windows. On the next few pages are the final products of this design process.
